Today we published the “Cash Flow Calculation” page.

It is a very specific topic and maybe doesn’t concern you but we have to mention 2 things:

  • We are very happy about the final result.
  • The people who needs it, finally have an easy explanation about how calculating them.
    • It is a topic that everybody with Finance backgrounds talk about, but actually only few people know what really is and how it is calculated.

We tell you this because we wanted to share our main motivations when writing such a long-dense Page.

In case you don’t know, in this section we talk about How we are building this Website: our SEO strategy, Theme and Plugins we use, our Real Results (Pageviews and Users we have)…

Today’s Post will be divided into 2 parts:

1. How to modify your BuddyPress Members Page.

2. Today’s Google Analytics report.

Let’s begin:

1. How to modify your BuddyPress Members Page.

As we told you in the past, we decided to use BuddyPress since our objective (by now) is creating an “environment” with people interested in becoming entrepreneurs, or at least interested in how companies (should) work.

In order to create such community, we needed a “platform” that allow an easy communication between our potential users: BuddyPress.

Which is BuddyPress’s main problem? It has some parts you can’t edit easily.

WP.Bakery can’t edit the:

  • Members Page.
  • Profile Page.
  • Registration Page, etc.

You only can edit them through code.

We wanted to modify the “Profile” fields shown on the “Members page” .

  • Check our “Members”; you’ll see the: “Live in” | “Status” | “Skills” and “Interests” fields defining each Consuunt Member.
    • We created “fake” members in order to learn and check that everything was correct; we currently have not a single user registered.

How did we add these Fields to our “Members” page?

1. You have to create a file called “bp-custom.php”.

  • If you don’t have an php editor, you can copy and paste one php File within your cPanel (or File manager)and change its name.

2. Place it on “public_html/yourdomain.com/wp-content/plugins”.

  • This file “Hacks” BuddyPress and allow you to do “quick” modifications without touching anything else (not “functions.php” nor anything “dangerous”).
  • If you Update your Theme, or Plugins… everything will remain; you won’t lose your modifications.

3. Edit it doing a right click on it and selecting “Edit” on your cPanel file Manager.

4. We finally wrote (we found it on internet, but we had to try and try several times until it worked for us):

(sorry about the format, we couldn’t make it fit).

<?php>
add_action( 'bp_directory_members_item', 'add_info_to_members_loop' );
function add_info_to_members_loop() {

    echo "<br>";
    echo '<span style="font-size:12px; font-weight:bold; color:#64a8f0">&nbsp Live in: </span>'.bp_get_member_profile_data( 'field=City' );
    echo "<br>";
    echo '<span style="font-size:12px; font-weight:bold; color:#64a8f0">&nbsp Status: </span>'.bp_get_member_profile_data( 'field=Professional Status' );
    echo "<br>";
    echo '<span style="font-size:12px; font-weight:bold; color:#64a8f0">&nbsp Skills: </span>'.bp_get_member_profile_data( 'field=Professional Skills' );
    echo "<br>";
    echo '<span style="font-size:12px; font-weight:bold; color:#64a8f0"> &nbsp Interests: </span>'.bp_get_member_profile_data( 'field=Main interested' );

}

 ?>

Maybe, you are looking to modify something else on your BuddyPress (we have just modified this).

What it is important is that you know that the “bp-custom.php” is your best ally.

  • It is harmless,  simple to use (if you find the code on internet), and affects no other php files.
  • In case of problem, you can delete it and that is all.

At least you already know what “bp-custom.php” is (we spent several days trying and trying…).

2. Our today’s report.

Regarding our Users:

As you can see in the Post’s Top image (today’s Google Analytics report) yesterday we had 9 users which really were 7; without counting Google Search Console’s crawling system’s (2).

Regarding our Page Views:

We had 17 Unique Page views.

It seems that our “numbers” are improving but we still have to improve them much more.

  • The Website has been 100% active: 1 month and 27 days.

Only by working harder, we’ll be able to improve our few page views.

Tomorrow, more.
