Today, we’ll talk about something that happened to us 2 days ago:

  • Suddenly, our Site became a “not secure” site.

Not just the “user” version, but also our WordPress Dashboard.

What happened?

In case you don’t know, in this section we talk about How we are building this Website: our SEO strategy, Theme and Plugins we use, our Real Results (Pageviews and Users we have)…

This will be our 2019’s last Post and will be divided into 2 parts:

1. Why our Site suddenly turned into a “Not Secure” Site?

2. Today’s Google Analytics report.

Let’s begin:

1. Why our Site suddenly turned into a “Not Secure” Site?

Usually, a site is “not secure” when there is a problem with its SSL certificate.

  • In cPanel you have a SSL Tool that allows you to install SSL certificates for free (in our hosting plan is for free).

Since we started Consuunt, it’s always been a SSL secure Site.

If you check your Web Search Engine, you’ll see this:

  • That lock means that our Site is secure.

But the other day, as soon as we entered in our WordPress Admin page, we realized that Chrome warned us about our Site:

The message we saw was this: NETT::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID

What happened?

That same morning (when we experienced this problem) we renewed our Hosting contract.

And, we suspect that cPanel changed the SSL “Let’s encrypt” certificate, to its own SSL certification:

Here, where it says “cPanel, Inc. Certification Authority“, before it was “Let’s encrypt“.

Our problem got solved in 1 hour automatically.

  • That is the average time that it takes a Website to install and validate a SSL certification.

So, if you have experienced this same Issue just after renewing your Hosting service, now you know what is going on.

  • Of course, if it doesn’t get solved, you should contact the Customer support team immediately.

2. Today’s Google Analytics report.

Some months ago, we published a Post where we analyzed the traffic decrease we experienced during summer holidays: Website traffic decrease in holidays.

  • Check it out: it is very interesting.

In that analysis we were able to predict something that has been absolutely confirmed:

  • The closer we get to Christmas holidays the less traffic we have on the website.

This traffic drop is much worse than that we experienced in summer holidays, Halloween or Thanksgiving.

Our users have decreased a 30%.

You’ll appreciate it much better in our Google Search Console report:

  • Even though our Average position has been constantly improving, Impressions and Clicks have decreased since December started.

Well… We are not worried about this.

What will we do? Just take some days off and enjoy the holidays!

Merry Christmas and happy new year!

See you in 2020.
