After several months studying our publications and what made them rank better or worse, we have obtained one important conclusion:

  • Helpful Content rank faster and better.

It is one of the best conclusions we have obtained so far.

We are not sure that Long-form content imply better rankings (as we explained in our “Long Posts vs Short Posts” publication) but we can assure that Helpful content makes the difference.

But… What is “Helpful content”? Isn’t that obvious?

Now we’ll explain our conclusions and Tips using our real data, as always.

In case you don’t know, in this section we talk about How we are building this Website: our SEO strategy, Theme and Plugins we use, our Real Results (Pageviews and Users we have)…

This Post will be divided into 2 different parts:

1. How you can improve your Rankings by publishing Helpful Content.

2. Today’s Google Analytics report: Users and Pageviews we have.

Let’s begin:

1. How you can improve your Rankings by publishing Helpful Content.

It seems completely obvious.

But think twice: When you chose a Topic for your Blog, Website or even YouTube Channel…

  • How do you usually choose it?

We all tend to:

  • Write about something we like.
  • Share some information we think is interesting.
  • Choose a Topic we think will Rank properly.
  • etc, etc.

It is not that common to publish Helpful Content.

Then, what exactly is Helpful Content?

  • Whatever worries people.

Not what you think will be interesting but what your users are really worried about.

Content ranking faster – Real examples

We’ll now compare two of our publications.

The first one, is a very interesting full-of-content Page: a Long publication with 2,000 words approx.

The second one is a small Post with just few hundred words. In fact we published it not expecting lot of traffic from it.

Moreover, we published them practically the same day.

How did they behave?

  • Our 2,000 words long and Interesting publication:

  • Our short Helpful Post:

What happened?

The first publication is what we found to be interesting.

The second one seemed to be more helpful to our users.

  • There, we talked about some Bad Backlinks we received those days. Nothing really special.

The Helpful content ranked much faster, better, and steadily.

  • “Interesting” is something Subjective.
  • Usually, when we search for something, we tend to look for Helpful content: Something that is worrying us.
    • Think how you look for things on the Internet.
  • Before choosing a Topic, ask yourself if you are helping anyone with that Content.

Of course you can and have to write about things you find interesting but, if you want to give your publications a better chance of Ranking faster, try to use an approach that could be helpful to your users.

How to Rank faster with Helpful Content

  • Give real examples.
  • Share the problems you had and how you solved them.
    • Probably your users experienced them too.
  • Try to help instead of showing how much you know about something.
  • Mix Interesting facts with useful conclusions you found.

2. Today’s Google Analytics report: Users and Pageviews we have.

This last week has been our best week so far.

Let’s see our numbers:

As you can see in the Post’s top picture, we finally reached 400 users per week.

These numbers have to improve a lot. We know.

However, if you check our first Posts (you can check them out here) you’ll notice that now, we receive 30 times the amount of users we had just few months ago. We feel optimistic!

As always: thanks for being there.
