As you may already know, we like to follow different SEO experts, listen to what they say, and what advice they give.
- We don’t do exactly what they say, but we like to see and compare our strategies.
Among all the advice they give, there is one that we have observed that is almost impossible to follow:
- The amount of publications you have to make.
Some SEO experts (good experienced professionals) suggest to publish 1 Long-Form Blog Post per day.
- The advice was, 100 Blog posts in 3 months: that is 1.11 Long-Form Blog Post per day.
We are sure that, if you can do that, you’ll success.
But, according to our experience, that is completely impossible (if you want to post something that makes sense).
- Remember: I am full time dedicated to building this Site.
That is why, today, we want to share with you our experience:
- How many Posts we are writing per month.
- How many you can realistically expect to write.
In case you don’t know, in this section we talk about How we are building this Website: our SEO strategy, Theme and Plugins we use, our Real Results (Pageviews and Users we have)…
- You’ll find an Index with all our Posts sorted by Topic here: “Website building and SEO Diary“.
This Post will be divided into 2 different parts:
1. Amount of Posts you can realistically write per month.
2. Our Google Analytics Report: Users and Pageviews we have.
Let’s begin:
1. Amount of Posts you can realistically write per month.
First of all, we have to mention that, we are not native English speakers.
- We need a bit more time than a native person would need.
- In case you are interested, we gave some Tips here: “Blogging in English for non-native speakers“.
As you can see in the image above, we have published 89 Posts and 97 Pages so far.
It took us 1 year to do so.
- Next week, we’ll publish our annual special Post. It’s been 1 year now…
This makes an average of 3.5 Publications per week.
However, we have not published with a constant frequency during this year.
- That is why we’ll divide the timeline into 2 different parts.
Average publication rate when starting a Site
When we started this Site, we were “fresh” and full of energy.
We initially thought that, in 3 months, we would receive thousands of users per day.
And, if you follow this diary, you’ll already know, that it took us several months to reach 1,000 users per month.
- If you are interested about it, visit the “Monthly Special Posts” section within our “Website Building” Page.
We were publishing:
- 2 Long-form Pages per week.
- 2,000 words approx.
- 1 Short-form Post per day.
- 500 words approximately (our first SEO Posts).
In our “SEO Diary 13th day” we shared these numbers with you.
This made:
- 38 publications per month.
- Only 8 of them were Long-Form publications.
- Remember: The SEO expert we were talking about earlier recommends 33 Long-Form Publications per month.
- Only 8 of them were Long-Form publications.
But… weeks went by and we realized that our website traffic was increasing little by little.
Moreover, each week we were more tired.
- We could publish this amount of content just 1 and a half months.
- And, the quality of some publications was remarkably improvable.
Realistic Monthly publication rate
Now, we have found our perfect Quality-Quantity-Sustainable ratio.
Each week, we publish:
- 1 Long-form Page.
- A long demanding publication.
- Our current publications are of better quality than the ones we published in our first weeks.
- 2,000 words approximately.
- A long demanding publication.
- 1 Medium-form Page.
- A medium, not that demanding publication.
- 1,000 words approximately.
- 1 Medium-form SEO Post.
- 800 words approximately (now, they are longer and of better quality).
This makes:
- 12 Publications per month.
- 4 Long-form Publications.
- 4 Medium-form Publications.
- 4 Posts with better quality than the one we had before.
Of course, if you:
- Write in your native language.
- Are a gifted person writing.
- Have experience.
- etc.
You can improve our numbers.
But, we find impossible for an average person to write 1 Long-form high-quality publication per day in a sustained way.
Did we noticed a decrease in Pageviews or Users received?
No. Nothing.
We changed our writing strategy last August (Summer holidays 2019).
- Check our Google Search Console results from those days:
Our Impressions and Clicks received, kept their trends.
Moreover, we realized that, Long-form publications don’t necessarily bring more traffic.
- Check our results in our “Long vs Short Posts” publication.
2. Our Google Analytics Report: Users and Pageviews we have.
As you may have already seen in the Post’s top picture we have stabilized our Users and Pageviews these last 3 weeks.
Users:
We currently have 867 users per week.
- Our current goal is to reach 1,000 per week.
Pageviews:
Now, we receive 4,940 pageviews per month.
- Our current goal is to receive 6,000.
Next week, we’ll publish a very special Post: Our “First anniversary” Post; 1 year of Website building.
We’ll analyze all we’ve done so far, our numbers, conclusions…
- Don’t miss it!
As always, thanks for being there!
